Reflection:
The coffee mug project was not a difficult one, although it took me a lot of time to get used to the software and eventually get the finished product after many tutorials.
The process of making this mug is simple. First of all, I sketched one side of it on the XY plane and the front viewpoint, followed by revolving it around to make the initial shape of the mug. I then modified it using the “shell” component, making the interior a hollow cavity. The next step was to add the handle, which I again sketched, and set the construct to ‘plane along path’ which allowed me to use the sweep method to create the circular handle. After all of this was done, it was time to add textures and change the appearance. For the appearance, I used white marble for the outer layer, glossy walnut wood for the inside of the mug, and porcelain for the base layer.

How easy or hard it was:
The Coffee Mug project presented an interesting blend of simplicity and complexity. While the overall process might seem straightforward, mastering the software took considerable time and dedication. Navigating through tutorials became a crucial part of the journey, eventually leading to a better grasp of the tools and techniques involved.

Elements that particularly bogged me down:
The initial hurdle was adapting to the software interface. It took a significant investment of time to familiarize myself with the functionalities and intricacies of the program. Additionally, refining the shape of the mug and incorporating the ‘shell’ component to create a hollow interior demanded meticulous attention, making it a bit challenging.

Tip for other beginner users:
Patience and persistence are key. Embrace the learning curve, invest time in tutorials, and don’t hesitate to experiment with different tools and techniques. Understanding the software intricacies early on can save you valuable time and elevate the quality of your projects. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and refine your skills.
Technique or tool I wish I had figured out sooner:
Experimenting with the ‘plane along path’ construct for creating the handle was a game-changer. This technique, combined with the sweep method, streamlined the process of crafting a circular handle with precision. For beginners, I would recommend investing time upfront in understanding this tool, as it significantly enhances the efficiency and quality of the final product.
The texture on the mug looks amazing! Also, you’re right, it took me a lot of patience to make a model!
