What possibilities do you see once you have a georectified map? What would be the next steps?

There are many opportunities that we can do with a georectified map. We can create a side-by-side showing current-day situations with how they once were. This can help preserve history and showcase the changes that occurred. We can also use these to show current city plans and how to better structure a city.

Are there problems with georeferencing that you should consider?

A problem that I feel can affect georeferencing is how one can draw boundaries so that they are accurate. If there is more than one piece of data we are referencing, seeing how we can integrate more than one piece of information can be potentially tricky. Another problem that I can foresee is how to handle incomplete data points. There could be some points in the map where we’re not able to correctly translate digitally.

What research questions or areas would this method NOT be appropriate for?

These types of methods would not be appropriate for places where we do not have any spatial data. If we are not mapping anything or seeing the change in a specific area of the world. It would be hard to consider abstract phenomena. It’s best to stick to things that can be mapped according to spatial coordinates.

Did this process change your understanding of the spatial DH projects you explored earlier?

Honestly yes. It changed how I thought these projects were formed. I thought it took a lot of advanced knowledge of coding to be able to make such high-end projects. But with this software, I understand more about how these projects can be created and implemented. It excites me to see what I can create in the future.
