Mapping the Tate Artist Data

Hi everyone! You can check out my midterm project website here. I used the Tate Artist Dataset for artists born between 1950-1969 and visualized my data using an interactive ArcGIS map showing place of birth, year of birth, and gender data through symbology, with other data available through interactive pop up panels. I hope you like it!

  1. I used the same dataset as you for my final project and it is interesting to see what you interpreted and did differently! For example, I like how the points on your map are categorized by the year the artist was born. I also appreciate your self critique at the end of your website. I think it is really important to acknowledge one’s own downfalls in order to improve your work in the future!

  2. Hi Anya, what a nice project! I also mapped the birthplaces of Tate artists though in a different approach. I love the idea that you use different shapes for male and female artists and different colors for birth year, which provides us with more straightforward comparison between groups of people. The pop-ups are also very useful as they include all the information about the artist, including the url. Moreover, I love your discussion of how this project is different from a data science project.
