Hi Feraidon! What an impressive project interweaving the arts, gender studies, and digital humanities. I love how you compile all the information and clearly lay it out on your webpage. The hotlinks to featured artworks are especially helpful for directing the viewer to the different sources on which you built your project, and they offer an understanding of what Tate Modern Museum’s collection entails. Also, it is a great idea to map out the gender distribution of Tate Artists using ArcGIS. Such data visualization just makes a social problem like gender disparity so tangible and inspires so much reflection on promoting diversity.
Your project is highly commendable. Your emphasis on gender issues are particularly noteworthy. As a viewer, I immediately grasped the significance of the red and blue dots in the map, illustrating the contrast, even before reading the accompanying text description. Your interactive map is intricately designed, and your analysis of the challenges faced by female artists is impressively detailed. Great work!
Thank you, Emma! While trying to load data into ArcGIS, I went through a few different formats of showing the data as per the color coding, and having it based on gender helped with the analysis of gender inequalities and issues.
Wow, what a project. you made a fantastic website, did you have previous experience with building websites or are you just naturally good cause this website is fantastic? The color choice as well as the detailing and layout of the website was great. The pieces of information were well put and it was well delved into with examples being provided. The map was very interesting and somewhat similar to mine but with more details and a different in layout. Overall, it was a great project/website and was very well put.
WOW! What an awesome website and display of all the information you gathered through your data. It was very easy to navigate and appreciate the buttons that allowed me to explore the artists further on my own. Overall, I felt the information presented was also very consist with the design of the site too. I hope my future projects can get on this level!
Great to hear that, I am sure you will do an awesome job with your project. Just remember to take your time and focus on the important details. Good luck!
Wow this is so impressive, and I loved the way that you designed the website! The analysis of the art was also really helpful. I’m interested why you chose the map background that you did, was it just because it matched the website design the best?
