This lab is to create a custom campus map using ArcGIS to show my frequent on campus. You can find the data here. The data include the latitude, longitude, address, function/type of each building, and the frequency of visits (days a week).
I also used polygon to draw the outlines of the buildings I selected and indicated different levels of frequency via heat maps.
My problem is that I don’t know how to customize the popups for each building to display their images. So I can only add the URL of the image as an attribute.
This lab provides a practical application and hands-on experience in map design, including customizing basemaps, and symbology. I also gained GIS skills like data manipulation and spatial analysis.
I believe that visualizing the frequency with which people visit different locations can provide valuable insights. Analyzing this data could reveal traffic patterns, identify popular areas, and highlight potential opportunities for improvements or expansions on the campus.
I also didn’t know how to make a pop-up for each building. But I found that if you use the “Map Viewer” instead of “Map Viewer Classic,” you can create pop-ups of images for each building. I used the sketch tool to mark points and then enable pop-ups. This feature allows you to make multiple points and pop-ups for different buildings.
